A Treatment for Hope: My Mother’s Breast Cancer Journey
My name is Sheila, and I’m reaching out to ask for help for my mother, Tessie Caballero, who is currently battling Stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her lungs.
In the middle of this difficult journey, our family also experienced another heartbreaking loss. On February 4th, my father sadly passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Losing him while my mother is fighting cancer has been incredibly painful for our family.
I currently work and live in Abu Dhabi. My mother lives with us, and we care for her as she continues her treatment.
We are doing everything we can to ensure my mother receives the care and treatment she urgently needs during this time. We have medical insurance, but unfortunately her cancer treatment was not covered, which means we have to pay for everything ourselves.
So far, I have applied to two charities. One of them, AXIOS, has kindly agreed to cover the 2nd to 4th cycles of her treatment, which we are very grateful for. However, they cannot cover the first cycle, which is urgently needed because my mom is already in pain.
The medications prescribed for her treatment are Fam-Trastuzumab Deruxtecan (100 mg) and Pertuzumab (Perjeta) 420 mg / 14 ml. The first cycle alone is very expensive. Her doctor advised starting with Trastuzumab, which costs around Php748,620.
We are doing everything we can to support her treatment, but the costs are overwhelming for our family. That’s why I’m humbly asking for help — whether through a donation, prayers, or simply sharing our story.
All funds raised will go directly toward my mother’s medical treatment.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read our story. Any support means so much to our family.
