I am Alan, a South African seafarer, currently stranded in Parañaque, Metro Manila.

I served as Head of Security on board container vessels.

I have been coming to the Philippines for many years for ship contracts. I am now completely stranded here while I wait for my appeal and waiver to come through from my attorney who is dealing with the American Embassy. My passport issue must be sorted before I can join my next vessel.

I am not allowed to work in the Philippines — I do not have a work permit and if I try to work I will go to jail. So I have no income at all.

I have been stuck for 4 months and this may take many more months, especially with the festive season coming.

I am asking for help for basic survival — rent and food — until my papers are cleared and I can sail again. I need approximately ₱50,000 per month for basic support.

I am not asking for luxury, only to stay safe with a roof over my head and food while I wait legally for my case to be resolved.

Every peso helps me survive this month. If you cannot donate, a share can reach someone who can.

Maraming salamat from the bottom of my heart.
