We are the Mapalad family, and we are raising funds for Allan Mapalad, who is currently undergoing treatment after suffering a serious brain hemorrhage.

What started as a difficult period of recovery from a recent Salmonella/typhoid infection suddenly became a much more serious medical emergency for our family. He was brought to the hospital and was found to have an intraventricular hemorrhage, meaning that bleeding had occurred inside the ventricles of his brain.

His initial CT scan also showed a suspected aneurysm near the tip of the basilar artery. A subsequent CT angiogram revealed four brain aneurysms, one larger aneurysm located in the middle/posterior area near the nape and three smaller aneurysms on the right side.

After evaluating his condition and the blood vessel involved, his doctors recommended endovascular treatment using stents rather than the originally considered coiling procedure.

He has already undergone the procedure for three of the four aneurysms.

The doctors used four stents to treat three of the aneurysms and to help repair/stabilize the affected blood vessel associated with the hemorrhage.

The cost of the stents alone is approximately ₱650,000 each, making the cost of the four stents approximately ₱2.6 million, before taking into account the other expenses involved in his hospitalization and treatment.

Unfortunately, one of the four aneurysms, one of the three smaller aneurysms, still requires treatment with a stent.

This means that our family is still facing another major procedure, along with the continuing costs of hospitalization, medications, medical tests, specialist care, monitoring, and recovery.

Why we are asking for help:

The medical expenses have become an enormous financial burden for our family. We never expected that we would suddenly have to deal with a life-threatening brain hemorrhage and multiple brain aneurysms requiring expensive specialized treatment.

We are doing everything we can to support our father and make sure he receives the treatment recommended by his doctors. However, the cost of the procedures and ongoing hospital care is more than our family can comfortably manage on our own.

We are humbly asking for your help to raise funds for our father’s continued treatment.

The funds raised will be used for:

* The stent procedure for his aneurysms

* Hospitalization and room/ICU expenses

* CT scans, CT angiography, and other diagnostic procedures

* Medications and medical supplies

* Neurological/neurosurgical and specialist care

* Laboratory tests and continued monitoring

* Recovery, follow-up treatment, and rehabilitation

* Other necessary medical expenses related to his condition
