My name is Michael Joel Apas, and I am currently based in London, working as a Clinical Practice Educator. Beyond my profession, one of the causes closest to my heart is building communities, creating opportunities for social mobility, and bringing tangible hope to underserved areas in Mindanao.

One organisation that has profoundly shaped my perspective on compassion and service is Por Cristo Foundation. During my student nurse placement there, I witnessed firsthand the quiet realities faced by abandoned and homeless elderly individuals—people who are now in the twilight years of their lives, longing not only for care, but for dignity, comfort, and human connection.

Por Cristo Foundation serves as a home, a refuge, and a family to these vulnerable elders. It continues to operate solely through the kindness and generosity of people willing to help. Each week, staff members visit the local market with only a cart and faith, where compassionate vendors donate fish, vegetables, fruits, and other essentials to sustain the residents’ daily meals.

Every donation made to the foundation goes toward providing necessities that many of us often take for granted—food, hygiene supplies, medicines, carers’ salaries, and hospital care whenever urgently needed.

I want to assure you that 100% of your donation will go directly to Por Cristo Foundation’s official bank account in the Philippines.
