Help 180 Mountain School Kids be Habagat Ready and Healthy
General Fullon Children's Wellness Initiative
Bringing Hope, Health, and Care to 180 Indigenous School Children in the Mountains of Antique
- Our Story
Nestled in the upland mountains of Barangay General Fullon, San Remigio, Antique is a remote Indigenous Peoples (IP) community where children grow up surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty but face daily challenges that many of us rarely experience. The barangay is accessible only by traversing mountain trails or riding a habal-habal (motorcycle), making access to basic necessities more difficult and costly. During the rainy season, children often walk to school through muddy paths while carrying their belongings without adequate protection from the rain.
Despite these challenges, the children continue to pursue their education with determination and hope.
This August, we hope to give them a reason to smile through the General Fullon Children's Wellness Initiative—a community outreach project dedicated to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of the school children of General Fullon Integrated School.
- A Dream Born from the Community
This initiative was envisioned by Anthony Canja, a native resident of Barangay General Fullon and a trusted local guide who has assisted countless hikers, trekkers, mountaineers, and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the mountains of his hometown. While many visitors know Anthony as a dependable guide, his greatest passion has always been serving the community where he was born and raised.
Over the years, Anthony has organized several small outreach activities using whatever resources were available, believing that even the simplest act of kindness can inspire hope among the children in his barangay.
His vision has always been bigger than what he could accomplish alone.
Today, we are working together to turn that vision into a community-wide initiative that will benefit every child in the school.
- Why I Am Supporting This Project
My name is Leonard, and I serve as the moderator of the Iloilo Hiking Community, a Facebook community of more than 22,000 hikers, trekkers, mountaineers, outdoor enthusiasts, and nature advocates.
Over the years, our hiking community has supported various environmental, conservation, and outreach initiatives by connecting generous individuals, volunteers, businesses, and organizations willing to give back to the communities that welcome us into their mountains.
For this project, I am helping Anthony by organizing this crowdfunding campaign, reaching out to sponsors, donors, businesses, and volunteers who share the same belief—that every child deserves access to basic health and wellness essentials regardless of where they live. I also encourage our hiking community to support businesses and organizations that generously contribute to the outreach initiatives we organize, creating a cycle of generosity that benefits both donors and the communities they choose to support.
Together, we hope to build a network of kindness that reaches even the most remote mountain communities.
- Our Mission
Our goal is simple. We want to provide 180 school children, from Kindergarten to Grade 11, with practical wellness care packages specifically designed for the rainy season.
Since the school year has already started, we intentionally chose not to distribute traditional school supplies. Instead, we focused on providing everyday essentials that children can immediately use to stay healthy, dry, and protected throughout the remainder of the school year.
Every care package has been thoughtfully prepared according to the children's age group to ensure the items are both practical and useful.
-What the Children Will Receive
The youngest children, from Kindergarten to Grade 1, will receive reusable raincoats or ponchos, children's multivitamin syrup, reusable water bottles, oral hygiene kits consisting of a toothbrush and toothpaste, and mosquito repellent to help protect them during the rainy season.
Children from Grades 2 to 6 will receive waterproof 5-liter dry bags to keep their belongings dry during their walk to school, foldable umbrellas, children's multivitamin syrup, reusable water bottles, oral hygiene kits, and mosquito repellent.
Older students from Grades 7 to 11 will receive larger 10-liter waterproof dry bags suitable for their daily needs, foldable umbrellas, multivitamins, reusable one-liter water bottles, and oral hygiene kits.
Although these items may seem ordinary to many of us, they can make a meaningful difference for children living in remote mountain communities. A waterproof bag protects their belongings from heavy rain. A reusable water bottle encourages healthy hydration. Vitamins help support their health and nutrition. Toothbrushes and toothpaste promote good hygiene, while umbrellas, rain gear, and mosquito repellent help protect them from the challenges of the rainy season.
Sometimes, a simple act of care becomes a lasting reminder that someone believes in them.
- How Your Donations Will Be Used
We believe that transparency is essential, and we are committed to ensuring that every donation is used responsibly.
The estimated cost of purchasing the wellness package items for all 180 school children is ₱70,350.
Approximately ₱5,000 will be allocated for packing materials, labels, and organizing each child's care package.
Another ₱5,000 will help cover transportation and delivery costs to Barangay General Fullon, a remote mountain community that requires additional logistical planning due to its location.
We have also allocated ₱12,000 to provide meals and snacks for the children, their accompanying parents or guardians, and the volunteers who will help make the outreach possible.
To ensure the outreach program runs smoothly, ₱7,650 has been allotted for activity materials, program supplies, and other operational needs.
Finally, ₱10,000 has been reserved as a contingency fund to accommodate price increases, transportation adjustments, unforeseen expenses, or additional necessities that may arise while preparing for the outreach.
Together, these expenses bring our fundraising goal to ₱110,000.
Every peso donated will go directly toward making this outreach possible.
Should we receive donations beyond our fundraising goal, all additional funds will be used to enhance the outreach by providing additional wellness items, improving meal support, or extending assistance to more children and families within the community.
- How You Can Help
This initiative can only become a reality through the kindness and generosity of people who believe that every child deserves an opportunity to grow up healthy, protected, and encouraged.
Whether you choose to sponsor an entire care package, contribute any amount, donate supplies, or support us through your organization or business, your generosity will directly impact the lives of these children.
If making a financial contribution is not possible, you can still help tremendously by sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, colleagues, and social networks. Every share allows this story to reach someone else who may be able to help.
- Every Child Deserves Hope
Children living in remote Indigenous communities should never be defined by their distance from cities or access to resources.
Your support is more than a donation.
It tells a child that people they have never met believe in their future.
It reminds parents that their community has not been forgotten.
It strengthens the spirit of volunteerism, compassion, and bayanihan that continues to unite people from different places for one common purpose.
On behalf of Anthony Canja, the children of General Fullon Integrated School, our volunteers, our sponsors, and everyone supporting this initiative, we sincerely thank you for your generosity, compassion, and trust.
Together, we can bring hope, wellness, and brighter smiles to the children of Brgy. General Fullon—one care package, one child, and one act of kindness at a time.
