Music to heal trauma of neglected youth
Giving 15 Boys a Voice Through Music
When young boys aged 10 to 13 arrive at SPECS after surviving severe neglect and abuse, trauma often leaves them angry, anxious, or completely silent. Words are hard, but the pain is real.
While we provide our 15 residents with daily nutrition, schooling, and family counseling to prepare them for home reunification in two years, they need a safe way to release what’s inside.
That is why this matters so deeply to us. Music breaks through where words fail. Watching a guarded child pick up an instrument, release his pent-up frustration, and smile for the first time in months shows us how powerful sound is for healing.
We are seeking PHP 50,000 to purchase a complete set of musical instruments for our 15 boys.
This PHP 50,000 investment will buy the drums, guitars, and percussion instruments needed to build a dedicated music space. It gives our boys more than just a practical skill—it offers them emotional regulation, a healthy outlet for self-expression, and a path back to childhood.
Help us give these 15 young boys the tools to express, heal, and find their rhythm again.
