Help My Twin Sister Continue Her Life-Saving Treatment
My name is Dan Andrea, and my twin sister is Dan Andrei. We are both 23 years old.
For our entire lives, we believed that my sister's only heart condition was Truncus Arteriosus. However, after further examinations last month, her doctors confirmed that she has Possible Infective Endocarditis of the Aortic Valve, Congenital Heart Disease, and Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD) in SR FC II).
In March, She was admitted to the Philippine Heart Center and underwent intensive treatment. After being discharged, she continued receiving intravenous antibiotics at home for more than 28 days.
We were hopeful that the treatment had worked. Unfortunately, during her follow-up checkup on June 16, we received news. Despite completing her antibiotics, the infection in her heart had become even larger. She was admitted to the hospital once again for almost a week and was prescribed another course of intravenous antibiotics, which we are still continuing at home.
My father and I have been doing everything we can to support her treatment. We have been stretching every paycheck, cutting back on our own needs, and using every resource available just to make sure she never misses a dose of her medication. We also sought financial assistance from different government agencies and organizations in our area. We are deeply grateful for every bit of help we received, but sadly, it still isn't enough to cover all of her medical expenses.
Today, I have to set aside my pride and ask for help again.
My sister has another follow-up appointment on July 28, where she will undergo additional laboratory tests and be evaluated again by her doctors. These tests are essential to monitor whether the infection is improving and to determine the next steps in her treatment. At this point, we are struggling to afford not only her intravenous antibiotics but also her maintenance medications, laboratory tests, transportation, and our family's daily expenses.
Asking for help is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but I will do anything for my twin sister. I cannot bear the thought of her treatment being delayed simply because we can no longer afford it.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small the amount may be, it will go directly toward her medications, laboratory tests, and ongoing treatment. If you are unable to help financially, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share our story. Your share may reach someone who is in a position to help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your prayers. Every donation, every share, and every prayer gives my sister another chance to continue fighting.
May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly.
