THE BEREAVED FAMILY

Good day everyone. My name is Noel, I am the son of my late mother Elvie. She was our sole provider nd had to work in Isabela for more than 13 years. She was very hardworking and a loving wife and a mother to us. Last January this year, she was diagnosed with massive acitis caused by a mass in her posterior cul de sac of uterus. The water on her belly was drained when she was still in Isabela and she went okay, but after her birthday last february, she felt ill again and her belly started getting bigger, That was the time wen we decided to bring her to the hospital for a check up and that's when we were advised to go the an OB Oncologist for transvaginal ultrasound and there we found out what causes her ascitis, a mass on her posterior cul de sac in the uterus ad it was non-benign and her test results showed a tumor marker of CA125 which was 369 which is a tumor marker for cancer. We were devastated after finding out her illness but we didn't give up. We went to EVMC the biggest public hospital in Eastern Visayas and despite the expenses we managed to bring her there for her check-up but sadly on out first day coming there we failed to have her check-up because there was no schedule for check-up for conditions like hers. We went back to EVMC on the right schedule and yes we were entertained and the doctor told us that she should be admitted for the water in her belly to be drained because it might affect her lungs and liver and we were very happy because finally she'll be admitted and will be taken care of, at least thats what we thought of, because after my mother underwent for some laboratories the doctor found out that all of my mothers test results are normal and she can't be admitted and told us to go back for anohter check-up and it was 11PM in the evening and we have nowhere to go to sleep. I was wet and freezin goutside trying to find a lodging house but I failed and our last resort was to go to the nus terminal and there we found benches and we used them for my mother to sleep on comfortably rather than sitting outside the ospital. Our familyhas been working tirelessly to fund my mother treatment because the fare expnses from our town to Tacloban City is very expensive plus the food and other expenses. We tried borrowing money from our relatives and friends but sadly, my mother's body gave up. She died lasy May this year and it was the worst day of our life because the most hardworking person in our family is now gone our beloved mother. Until now, aside from the pain of her death, the most challenging part of it is getting back on our feet, with multiple depths and bills piling up, I dont know if our family can still survive.
