Please help my family through a difficult 2026...

I never imagined that I would have to ask for help like this.

I am a graduate student and the eldest of three children. My parents have spent years working abroad as OFWs to provide for our family. I have two younger brothers, ages 12 and 10, and one of my brothers is non-verbal and has autism, which means he requires additional care and support.

This year, however, our family has faced one medical crisis after another.

In May 2026, while my parents and younger brothers were away, my grandmother suffered a stroke and had to undergo cardiac catheterization. She spent much of May and June in and out of the hospital as doctors continued to monitor and treat her condition.

At around the same time, my grandfather, who has been living with diabetes for years, also had to be hospitalized at a different hospital. His left leg had been progressively deteriorating, and his condition began affecting other parts of his body. Despite our efforts to manage his health, his leg eventually had to be amputated in July.

While my grandparents were dealing with these serious health problems, another devastating situation began with my father.

In July, my father had a growing lump on the side of his neck examined. He was initially advised that it could be lymphoma. After undergoing a biopsy and further examinations, the lump continued to grow. In August, he returned to the Philippines and sought further medical care in Manila, where our family received the devastating diagnosis that he has Stage 4 Type B Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

He has since returned home and began chemotherapy in September.

Prior to everything that has happened, my mother had permanently left her work abroad and returned to the Philippines to care for my grandparents and my younger brothers. This means that my father is now the only one of my parents who currently has an income, while also undergoing cancer treatment himself.

Meanwhile, I am trying my best to help carry the responsibilities at home while continuing my graduate studies. I have been actively looking for work and trying to find stable income, but I have not yet been able to secure one. As the eldest child, it has been incredibly difficult watching my family go through all of this while feeling that I cannot do enough to help.

Our medical expenses have accumulated rapidly. My father continues to undergo chemotherapy and requires medications and follow-up care. My grandparents also continue to need maintenance medications and medical care, which can amount to thousands of pesos every week. On top of this are our everyday household expenses and the needs of my two younger brothers, one of whom requires special care and support.

2026 has been an incredibly difficult year for our family. We have experienced hospitalization, a stroke, cardiac treatment, an amputation, a cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy, the loss of my mother's overseas employment, and the financial strain that has come with all of it one after another. Some birthdays were even spent at hospitals and incomplete.

I am creating this fundraiser because I desperately want to help my family get through this period without having to choose between medical treatment, medication, education, and basic necessities.

Any amount, no matter how small, would mean so much to us. Donations will go toward my father's chemotherapy and medical expenses, my grandparents' medications and continuing care, my younger brothers' needs, and essential household and educational expenses while our family works through this difficult time.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would already be an enormous help. Even simply keeping my father, grandparents, brothers, and our family in your thoughts and prayers means more to us than I can express.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us through one of the hardest seasons our family has ever faced.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
