"Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Fellow Community Members,

I’m reaching out today because our local children’s reading program in Quezon City is at a critical crossroads – and we need your help to keep our doors open and expand our reach.

Why we’re raising funds: For the past three years, we’ve been providing free books, tutoring, and a safe after-school space for kids from low-income families in Barangay West Triangle. Right now, 78% of the children we serve come from households where there are no books at home, and many parents work multiple jobs and can’t support their learning. Our current space is too small to accommodate the 50+ new families who’ve asked to join, and we’re running out of funds to buy new books in both English and Filipino, pay for part-time tutors, and cover basic utilities like electricity and water. Without additional support, we’ll have to turn away children starting next month.

How your money will be used – every peso matters:

- 45% will go toward purchasing new books, workbooks, and educational materials – including storybooks for young readers and reference texts for older students preparing for high school entrance exams.

- 30% will fund salaries for two part-time certified teachers who will lead small group tutoring sessions focused on reading comprehension and literacy skills.

- 15% will help us rent and renovate a larger space just two blocks away, with room for a dedicated reading area, study tables, and a small playground for breaks.

- 10% will cover essential operational costs like utilities, cleaning supplies, and transportation for kids who live too far to walk safely.

We’ll share monthly updates with all donors, including photos of new books on our shelves, progress reports from our tutors, and receipts for major purchases – because transparency is as important as the work itself.

Why you should support this cause: Every child deserves the chance to learn to read well – it’s the foundation for their future, whether they dream of becoming doctors, teachers, artists, or entrepreneurs. When you support our program, you’re not just giving money – you’re giving a child the ability to imagine new possibilities, build confidence, and break cycles of poverty through education. I’ve seen firsthand how a single book can change a child’s life: last year, 12-year-old Mia struggled to read simple sentences; now she’s leading our book club and helping younger kids learn their letters. Your support can help create more stories like Mia’s right here in our community.

No donation is too small – even P100 can buy two new storybooks that will be shared by dozens of children. Together, we can ensure that every kid in our neighborhood has the tools they need t
