A little help for little Vash

Our newborn baby, Vash, was only 11 days old when we rushed him to the hospital on October 25 after he experienced seizures.

Since then, we’ve been hoping and praying for answers. His initial blood tests, blood culture, cranial ultrasound, and EEG came back with no significant findings, but he continued to experience seizures.

As of today, October 31, the doctors still have no clear or conclusive diagnosis.

Two lumbar punctures (spinal taps) were attempted to check for a possible infection, but both were unsuccessful because only blood was collected. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that our baby experienced a seizure during each attempt.

Because of the inconclusive results and unsuccessful procedures, his neonatologist and pediatrician have recommended transferring him to a larger hospital in Bacolod or Cebu City, where he can receive specialized care from a pediatric neurologist and undergo further examinations.

Unfortunately, both cities are far from our home, and transferring him would mean additional expenses for transportation, hospitalization, specialists, medications, and other medical procedures.

We are already financially drained.

We used up our savings for my recent childbirth and have exhausted our available funds trying to cover Vash’s growing hospital bills. We are also preparing for the possibility that he may need medication and continued medical care for at least six months, depending on his diagnosis and treatment plan.

This situation is especially painful for our family because our eldest son also suffered from bacterial meningitis and neonatal sepsis as a newborn. We went through months of treatment and recovery with him, and now we are facing another frightening and uncertain journey with our youngest.

We are not only asking for help with our hospital bills. We are asking for a chance to get our baby the specialized medical care he urgently needs.

Any amount, no matter how small, would help us cover his medical expenses and possible transfer to a larger hospital. If you’re unable to donate, sharing our story would also mean so much to us.

We never imagined we would be in this situation again, especially just days after welcoming our baby into the world.

All we want is to find out what’s causing his seizures, get him the right treatment, and bring him home healthy and safe.
