Hi everyone,

We are writing this because our dear classmate and lifelong friend of over 50 years, Dr. Maria Beatriz Peralta-Gepte, is facing an urgent battle with cancer — and she urgently needs our community's financial support right now.

Over the last 18 months, Doc Bea has been fighting an incredibly difficult battle against stage 4 cervical cancer that has metastasized or spread to her lungs and brain. Since the day of her diagnosis, she has shown so much grace, bravery, and unwavering strength. Even during the darkest and most grueling days of chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, and surgery, Doc. Bea continued to think of others before herself.

As many know, the toll of this disease extends far beyond the physical and emotional. Over the past year and a half, the continuous medical procedures, hospital stays, and time away from her work as a Pediatric Oncologist have taken a devastating financial toll.

While she is doing absolutely everything in her power to focus on healing, the mounting medical bills and everyday living expenses have become an overwhelming source of stress for her and her family.

Doc Bea is always the first to step up and help others—especially children throughout her medical career as a pediatric oncologist—but it is incredibly difficult for her to ask for help herself. That is why our group of friends (VSF Class of ’84 - Sapphire) is stepping up to take this on for her.

We have launched this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden so Bea can focus 100% to her cancer therapies and not add any more stress. Every single donation raised will go directly toward her medical expenses, treatments, and necessary everyday living costs.

Any amount you can donate will make a profound difference in her battle. And if you can also share this link and spread her story, that will help raise the money she needs.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and continued prayers during this incredibly tough journey.

With love and gratitude,

Class of ’84 Sapphire
