Help Us Bring Our Mom Home
HELP US BRING OUR MOTHER HOME
Mommy Fely's fight after a serious major stroke — please read and share
On June 30, our mother Felisina turned 91. It was her birthday. Before the day ended, she was in the ICU, fighting for her life.
She suffered a massive major stroke on the very day we were supposed to be celebrating her. There was no party nor a small family celebration. The cake was never opened. Our family spent that entire night/weeks outside the intensive care unit of the hospital, praying.
Mommy has been in the ICU ever since. The stroke was only the first blow. Infection settled into her lungs. Her blood count keeps falling, and she has needed transfusion after transfusion just to stay stable. She can no longer eat on her own, so she is fed through an NGT tube. Every day brings more laboratory tests, more medicines, more procedures. And every day brings bills our family can no longer carry alone.
Our Mom was the literal & spiritual light of our home, the Rock of Gibraltar, the strong epoxy glue that bonds together, and the ultimate source of our family's joy for many decades. She is personally my true best friend and #1 supporter in Life.
Her own beloved grandson is an emergency physician. He has walked us through every critical decision, and we trust that she is getting the right care. What we can no longer manage is the heavy financial cost. ICU care in Metro Manila runs to tens of thousands of pesos a day, before the transfusions, the antibiotics, the scans, and the specialists' fees. We have applied to every assistance program open to us, including the Malasakit Center and PCSO medical assistance, and we are grateful for what they cover. But the balance left is far beyond our reach, and her doctors cannot yet tell us how many more days she will need in intensive care.
We are asking for help to raise ₱750,000 for her ICU stay, medicines, blood transfusions, and the care she will still need in the days ahead.
We know times are hard for everyone. No amount is too small. Fifty pesos, one hundred pesos — from many hands, it will carry us further than you can imagine. And if you cannot give, you can still help us in two ways that cost nothing: share this post, and pray for Mommy Felisina.
