My name is Aindrea, and I am the oldest child of a single mother who has spent her entire life working hard to provide for our family of six children.

Last week, my mother collapsed while working as a vegetable picker and was diagnosed with heat stroke. The extreme heat in the Philippines has made her work even more difficult, and she later admitted that she had been experiencing dizziness and weakness for some time but chose not to tell us because she did not want us to worry.

My mother is getting older, and finding another job is very difficult. Despite her condition, she continued working because she is the sole provider for our family.

I am currently a student and work part-time whenever my schedule allows. I have considered leaving school to find full-time work, but without a college degree and the resources needed to obtain employment requirements, the opportunities available to me are limited and do not provide enough income to cover my mother’s medication, our rent, and our daily needs.

The past week has been one of the hardest periods our family has ever faced. We have often had to limit ourselves to one meal a day, and some of my younger siblings have only been able to attend school a few times because of our financial situation.

Today, I am humbly asking for help. Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly toward my mother’s medical expenses, medication, transportation for treatment, food for our family, and essential living expenses while she recovers.
